2021-01-26Revert "Minimize the changes in #5277"Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
This reverts commit dc51d89ac22acc60b9bfeed87115863565b74085.
2021-01-22Minimize the changes in #5277Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Instead of including `mruby/presym.h` everywhere, we provided the fallback `mruby/presym.inc` under `include/mruby` directory, and specify `-I<build-dir>/include` before `-I<top-dir>/include` in `presym.rake`. So even when someone drops `-I<build-dir>/include` in compiler options, it just compiles without failure.
2021-01-21Merge branch 'avoid-including-presym.inc-in-existing-header-files' of ↵Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
https://github.com/shuujii/mruby into shuujii-avoid-including-presym.inc-in-existing-header-files
2021-01-11Avoid including `presym.inc` in existing header filesKOBAYASHI Shuji
Addressed an issue where existing programs linking `libmruby.a` could only be built by adding `<build-dir>/include` to compiler's include path.
2021-01-10Changes `stackent` to `stack` of `mrb_callinfo`dearblue
This enhances self-containment. Previously `mrb_context::stack` had the current call level stack, but now it owns it. The `mrb_context::stack` field, which is no longer needed, will be removed.
2021-01-10Unified `target_class` and `env` of `mrb_callinfo`dearblue
If there is `env`, `env->c` means `target_class`.
2020-11-13Change name and usage of presym macrosKOBAYASHI Shuji
To be also able to build mruby without presym in the future. However, `MRB_QSYM` has been removed and changed as follows: ### Example | Type | Symbol | Previous Style | New Style | |---------------------------|--------|------------------|----------------| | Operator | & | MRB_QSYM(and) | MRB_OPSYM(and) | | Class Variable | @@foo | MRB_QSYM(00_foo) | MRB_CVSYM(foo) | | Instance Variable | @foo | MRB_QSYM(0_foo) | MRB_IVSYM(foo) | | Method with Bang | foo! | MRB_QSYM(foo_b) | MRB_SYM_B(foo) | | Method with Question mark | foo? | MRB_QSYM(foo_p) | MRB_SYM_Q(foo) | | Mmethod with Equal | foo= | MRB_QSYM(foo_e) | MRB_SYM_E(foo) | This change makes it possible to define, for example, `MRB_IVSYM(foo)` as `mrb_intern_lit(mrb, "@" "foo")`, which is useful if we support building without presym in the future.
2020-10-22Prohibit array changes by "a"/"*" specifier of `mrb_get_args()`dearblue
The "a"/"*" specifier of the `mrb_get_args()` function will now return `const mrb_value *`. This is because it is difficult for the caller to check if it is an array object and write-barrier if necessary. And it requires calling `mrb_ary_modify()` on the unmodified array object, which is also difficult (this is similar to #5087).
2020-10-12Replace the implementation of method tables in classes/modules.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
They are basically the copy of instance variable tables. On my Linux box, memory consumption of `mrbtest` measured by `valgrind` is: - old: 17,683,830 bytes - new: 14,283,749 bytes
2020-10-12Use `mrb_int_value()` instead of `mrb_fixnum_value()`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Where fixnum overflow can happen.
2020-10-12Integrate `Fixnum` class into `Integer` classdearblue
* The `Fixnum` constant is now an alias for the `Integer` class. * Remove `struct mrb_state::fixnum_class` member. If necessary, use `struct mrb_state::integer_class` instead.
2020-10-12Call `#initialize_copy` from `init_copy` only if it's redefined.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-10-12Generate C struct from `irep` instead of binary dump.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-10-12Use `mrb_funcall_id()` extensively.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Except for support files e.g. `mruby-test/driver.c`, which are not target of symbol collection via `rake gensym`.
2020-10-12Rename `MRB_OPSYM()` to `MRB_QSYM()`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Where `QSYM` means quoted symbols, which cannot be represented C symbols, so specify aliases instead. - operators: name of the operation, e.g. add for `+` - predicates: add `_p` suffix instead of `?` - bang methods: add `_b` suffix instead of `!` - instance variables: add `a_` prefix instead of `@` - global variables: add `d_` prefix instead of `@` - class variables: unsupported; don't use them
2020-10-12Use `MRB_OPSYM()` instead of `mrb_intern_lit()`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-10-12Add `MRB_SYM()` for inline symbols.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-08-29Fix a bug introduced by the last commit.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Should have handled the case `to_a` returns `nil`.
2020-08-29Fix `mrb_obj_ceqq` to avoid array copying.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-07-19Use `c` specifier for `mrb_get_args`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-07-17Use `proc->env` to check `block_given?` if possible; fix #5039Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
This bug has been there since mruby 1.4.0 (2018-04).
2020-06-25Change flag names in preparation of `REnv` refactoring.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2020-06-20Add `mrb_get_arg1()` that retrieves single (and only) argument.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
`mrb_get_arg1()` raises `ArgumentError` if the method does not receive one argument. And replaces all `mrb_get_args(mrb, "o", &arg)` by the new function.
2020-04-21`Kernel#clone` and `Kernel#dup` no longer raise `TypeError`; fix #4974Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
In ISO, those methods should raise `TypeError`, but the spec has been changed. The change was discussed in [Feature#12979].
2020-01-01Rename `mrb_num_args_error` to `mrb_argnum_error`; ref #4863Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2019-12-12Add `mrb_num_args_error()` for "wrong number of arguments" errorKOBAYASHI Shuji
To unify the style of messages.
2019-11-15Fix argument specs to `Kernel`KOBAYASHI Shuji
2019-11-13Revert a76dc04 to resolve #4820Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2019-10-04Freeze strings from `nil.to_s`, `true.to_s`, `false.to_s`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
This is an experimental changes in Ruby 2.7.
2019-09-26Use type predicate macros instead of `mrb_type` if possibleKOBAYASHI Shuji
For efficiency with `MRB_WORD_BOXING` (implement type predicate macros for all `enum mrb_vtype`).
2019-09-14Add a macro `mrb_frozen_p` that points to `MRB_FROZEN_P`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2019-08-05Use new specifiers/modifiers of `mrb_vfromat()`KOBAYASHI Shuji
The binary sizes (gems are only `mruby-bin-mruby`) are reduced slightly in my environment than before the introduction of new specifiers/modifiers (5116789a) with this change. ------------+-------------------+-------------------+-------- BINARY | BEFORE (5116789a) | AFTER (This PR) | RATIO ------------+-------------------+-------------------+-------- mruby | 593416 bytes | 593208 bytes | -0.04% libmruby.a | 769048 bytes | 767264 bytes | -0.23% ------------+-------------------+-------------------+-------- BTW, I accidentally changed `tasks/toolchains/visualcpp.rake` at #4613, so I put it back.
2019-07-20Fix `Module#dup` to frozen moduleKOBAYASHI Shuji
Before this patch: $ bin/mruby -e 'p Module.new.freeze.dup.frozen?' #=> true After this patch (same as Ruby): $ bin/mruby -e 'p Module.new.freeze.dup.frozen?' #=> false
2019-06-07Remove `Kernel#global_variables` from coreKOBAYASHI Shuji
This method is defined in `mruby-metaprog` gem.
2019-05-18Move `Kernel#equal? to `BasicObject`KOBAYASHI Shuji
2019-04-25Singleton class of frozen object should be frozenKOBAYASHI Shuji
Before this patch: p (class << Object.new.freeze; self end).frozen? #=> false sc = class << (o=Object.new); self end; o.freeze; p sc.frozen? #=> false After this patch / Ruby: p (class << Object.new.freeze; self end).frozen? #=> true sc = class << (o=Object.new); self end; o.freeze; p sc.frozen? #=> true
2019-04-10Use `mrb_immediate_p()` in `mrb_obj_freeze()` and `mrb_obj_frozen()`KOBAYASHI Shuji
2019-03-26Fix missing `MRB_API` prefix for functions below; clse #4267Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Functions to add prototypes to headers: * mrb_ary_splice() * mrb_notimplement() * mrb_vformat() * mrb_cstr_to_dbl() * mrb_cstr_to_inum() Functions to be made `static` (`MRB_API` was not needed): * mrb_mod_module_function() * mrb_obj_hash() * mrb_str_len_to_inum() Functions to remove `MRB_API` from definitions (referenced from within `libmruby`): * mrb_mod_cv_defined() * mrb_mod_cv_get() * mrb_f_send()
2019-01-03Remove `Kernel#class_defined?` which is not available in CRuby; #3829Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2018-11-19Remove implicit conversion using `to_str` method; fix #3854Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
We have added internal convenience method `__to_str` which does string type check. The issue #3854 was fixed but fundamental flaw of lack of stack depth check along with fibers still remains. Use `MRB_GC_FIXED_ARENA` for workaround.
2018-11-19Remove implicit conversion using `to_int` method.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
The ISO standard does not include implicit type conversion using `to_int`. This implicit conversion often causes vulnerability. There will be no more attacks like #4120. In addition, we have added internal convenience method `__to_int` which does type check and conversion (from floats).
2018-09-01Move `Kernel#send` to `mruby-metaprog` gem.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
But `BasicObject#__send__` is still available from the core.
2018-09-01Avoid `NoMethodError` exception from `mrb_func_basic_p`.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
2018-08-30Separate meta-programming features to `mruby-metaprog` gem.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
We assume meta-programming is less used in embedded environments. We have moved following methods: * Kernel module global_variables, local_variables, singleton_class, instance_variables, instance_variables_defined?, instance_variable_get, instance_variable_set, methods, private_methods, public_methods, protected_methods, singleton_methods, define_singleton_methods * Module class class_variables, class_variables_defined?, class_variable_get, class_variable_set, remove_class_variable, included_modules, instance_methods, remove_method, method_removed, constants * Module class methods constants, nesting Note: Following meta-programming methods are kept in the core: * Module class alias_method, undef_method, ancestors, const_defined?, const_get, const_set, remove_const, method_defined?, define_method * Toplevel object define_method `mruby-metaprog` gem is linked by default (specified in default.gembox). When it is removed, it will save 40KB (stripped:8KB) on x86-64 environment last time I measured.
2018-08-25Rename ambiguous function names.Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
`mrb_iv_p` -> `mrb_iv_name_sym_p` `mrb_iv_check` -> `mrb_iv_name_sym_check`
2018-08-25Reorganize flags values for classes; fix #3975Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto
Renamed flag macro names as well: `MRB_FLAG_IS_FROZEN` -> `MRB_FL_OBJ_FROZEN` `MRB_FLAG_IS_PREPENDED` -> `MRB_FL_CLASS_IS_PREPENDED` `MRB_FLAG_IS_ORIGIN` -> `MRB_FL_CLASS_IS_ORIGIN` `MRB_FLAG_IS_INHERITED` -> `MRB_FL_CLASS_IS_INHERITED`
